Shanna Showcase 13: Marvel Comics Presents #s 70-73 (Feb.-Mar. 1991)

Some pretty horrific imagery in this episode of Shanna Showcase, courtesy of Gerard Jones & Paul Gulacy.  Ants crawling all over faces and barbecued reporter were plot points in chapters 3-6 of a 10-part Shanna The She-Devil serial running through Marvel Comics Presents 25 years ago.

What could possibly go with barbecued reporter? Animal blood, of course

Shanna Showcase 12: Ka-Zar: Guns of the Savage Land (1990) & Marvel Comics Presents #s 68-69 (1991)

In this episode of Shanna Showcase, I'll be having a very brief look at the She-Devil's appearance in the graphic novel, Ka-Zar: Guns of the Savage Land. Then, I'll be recapping the 1st two chapters of a Shanna solo serial running through the anthology title, Marvel Comics Presents! This is a really great Shanna story that deserves another look, and I'm happy to oblige!

In this episode of Reboot Review, I'll be taking a look at LSH Annual #6, a kind of stock-taking issue which shines the spotlight on two of the newer Legionnaires, XS & Kinetix, and long-time member, Leviathan.

Also, a couple of short stories are dusted off, from the anthology title, Showcase '95.  Have a listen by downloading this episode HERE & take a look at some images from these issues below.

Please check out previous episodes of I'm the Gun on iTunes, and feel free to leave comments on the Legion below.  You can also email me at imthegun@gmail.com - I'd love to hear what you have to say about DC's 90's annuals & anthology titles.

Sheena Showcase: Marvel Comics Super Special #34 (Oct. 1984)

This time out, I'd like to take a look at Marvel Comics Super Special #34, which was a comic adaptation of the universally panned movie, Sheena.

While the film probably deserves its horrible reputation, the comic is a fairly entertaining adventure, in great part due to the fantastic creative team - writer Cary Burkett & artist Gray Morrow.  I respect both of these talents, and they turn out some pretty decent work, considering the material.

Take a listen to an issue recap, and my thoughts HERE.  Please check out previous episodes of I'm the Gun on iTunes, and leave comments on the movie Sheena, or Marvel Comics film adaptations below.  You can also email me at imthegun@gmail.com - I'd love to hear what you have to say re: movie bombs, Cary Burkett, Gray Morrow or whatever.

Sheena learns to communicate telepathically w/ animals & shoot an accurate arrow in this training montage

The king - shot from behind

Sheena introduces herself . . .

. . . and then says goodbye.  Interesting choice by Cary Burkett to change Sheena's last words to Vic from 'I love you' to 'You are my man.'

They're riding a zebra, okay?
